My not so healthy opinion…
It’s been several weeks since I last wrote a post for my website. There are numerous reasons as to why this happened, but mostly it’s been finding the right balance between my job and this- my hobby.
I call this a hobby because nothing brings me more joy than researching health topics that I can share with those who choose to spare a few minutes of their time reading my blog.
However, in the last few weeks I’ve found myself lamenting at the prospect of scouring the interest for new ‘tid bits’ on public health. It’s a feeling that I don’t recognise at all. And in the spirit of transparency and a healthy mindset, I think I should share why I have felt this way.
Writing is an outlet for me. As I mentioned earlier; finding, sharing and creating pathways for discussions around the benefits of having a healthy life is something I relish in. However, the pandemic has created this chasm where hobbies are now turning into chores because many of us using them as escapes from our current reality. They have become our go to when we can’t cope with the world. This (for me), as a result has taken what we once used as a healing balm to be a band-aid that temporarily fixes the current global crisis that we are all facing together.
“You’re on mute!”
2020 Quote of the year
My opinion is that 2020 has been nothing but a dark hole of uncertainty. And the most interesting part has been that we have all been experiencing it together. Almost as if we were part of a Collective Participatory Experiment that has gone very wrong.
So with that, I leave you with a thought and a reminder that it’s ok if you find yourself unable to do what you set out to do for the day, the week, the month or even the year. Give yourself grace. That’s my health opinion for you.
I’ve decided that if I’m going to survive the year with my hobby still as my healing balm, I’m going write a little note to myself on here and share it with the world. I’m going to tell myself that it’s ok. I will write when I want to. I will search the crevices of the internet for public health issues when I feel up to it. I will blog again for the sake of blogging when I’m ready and truly feel like it.
